Quote maker

A quote is a price you are offering, not a bill. Add your business, the customer, the lines, a valid-until date, and the terms. The preview updates as you type. Download a PDF, or turn the same lines into an invoice. Nothing you type is uploaded.

The PDF says this is a quote, not a final invoice. Turn this quote into an invoice copies the lines into the generator in this browser only. Replace the sample line before you send it.

How to make a quote

  1. Add your business name and contact details. Upload a logo if you want one on the page.
  2. Add who the quote is for, then a line for each part of the job, with quantity and rate.
  3. Set the tax percent if you will charge tax. Pick the date the price holds, and write the terms.
  4. Check the preview. Download the PDF, or turn the quote into an invoice.

The Design work line is only a starting point: quantity 1 at $450, tax at 0, quote number Q-1001. The valid-until date starts 30 days out. Change it. The page does not look up a tax rate, and the currency box is a symbol. It does not convert money. When the customer accepts, the button copies the business, the customer, the lines, the tax, the terms, and the valid-until date into the invoice generator. A receipt is for after you have the money. An estimate is the same kind of price, with a discount field.

Questions

Is a quote the same as an invoice?

No. A quote offers a price. An invoice asks to be paid. This page marks the PDF as a quote, not a final invoice. Use Turn this quote into an invoice when you are ready to bill.

Do I need an account?

No. The page runs in your browser. There is no signup and no fee. What you type is not uploaded.

What does Turn this quote into an invoice do?

It copies the business, the customer, the lines, the tax, the terms, and the valid-until date into the invoice generator, then opens that page. The generator reads the copy once and deletes it. Later edits here do not change the invoice.

How is the total calculated?

Each line is quantity times rate. Those lines add up to the subtotal. Tax is the percent you type, times that subtotal. At 0 percent, a $450.00 line is $450.00.

What is the valid-until date for?

It is the day the price holds. The field starts 30 days from today. The date prints on the quote and becomes the due date if you turn the quote into an invoice.
