Moving invoice template

Updated October 2026

A local move invoice has two front doors and a clock. Write both addresses, how many people were on the truck, and the stairs, or the total is a surprise at the curb.

Example prices for a local move. Not a rate per mile and not a binding estimate form. Labor is 12 person-hours: three people for four hours, at an example $42. If the clock runs long, add hours. Do not stretch the four-hour story to cover a six-hour day. Travel between Pine and Cedar is its own line so it is not buried in the truck. The long carry is there because the start is a third floor with no elevator. A ground-floor to ground-floor job would drop that line. The $200 deposit reserved the date. This bill is the balance, due when the truck is empty. Moves that cross a state line can involve extra paperwork. This sample is inside one city. Check the rules for the route you actually run, instead of copying this note onto an interstate job.

The generator loads both addresses, the 12 person-hours, the truck, and the deposit credit. Two Stoops Moving is only the sample name on this page. Your saved name stays.

The lines that stop a curb argument

Balance due when the last box is inside

The Brooks family paid $200 to hold the date. The rest of this example is due October 11, the move day. A tow of a single car is a different job, the towing template. A few shelves and a door, with no truck, fit the handyman template. If the hours run past four, add the extra person-hours on this same invoice instead of hoping the deposit covers them.

Hours, stairs, and the two addresses

How should mover hours be written?

As person-hours with the headcount in the description. Three people for four hours is 12 on this sample, at an example $42. A single 'labor' lump hides whether you brought two people or four.

Why is the truck not inside the hourly rate?

Because the truck is there even if the clock is short, and the people are the part that changes. Splitting them lets a longer day add hours without pretending the truck got more expensive for a mysterious reason.

What is a long carry?

Extra distance or stairs that were not a normal walk to the curb. This start is a third floor with no elevator, so the sample has a $70 line. A ground-floor load would not.

When is a local move due?

When the truck is unloaded, in this example. The $200 deposit already reserved the date and is credited. The family is not waiting 30 days to pay for a sofa that is already in the new living room.

Does this cover a move across state lines?

No. The sample stays inside one city, Pine to Cedar. Interstate moves can have extra paperwork. Check the rules for the route you run instead of reusing this local bill unchanged.
