Handyman invoice template
Updated October 2026
Handyman work is a list, not a project name. The client remembers the door that stuck and the hole in the drywall. The invoice should name those tasks, show the first hour as a minimum, and keep the hardware-store receipt visible.
- Hung two shelves.
- Patched one drywall hole.
- Adjusted a sticking door.
Those three tasks are the extra 1.5 hours, not three extra minimums.

Small jobs still need a few hard fields
- The address, including the unit. This one is 64 North Ave, unit 3.
- The minimum, and what slice of time it covers.
- The task list, written where the hours are, so the time has a reason.
- Materials as materials.
- A license or registration number in your business details if your state asks handy workers to carry one. Check your state's rules for which jobs you may take.
Paid when you pack the tools
There is no 30-day float on a shelf that is already on the wall. Cash, card, and the usual phone-pay apps are the methods on the sample. If a task has to wait on a part, tell them before you leave whether the return trip has its own minimum. Surprising them with a second $85 is a good way to lose the next call. For longer jobs that are really a remodel, use the contractor template instead of stretching a punch list.
Minimums, punch lists, and materials
What does the minimum service charge cover?
The first hour on site, in this sample, at $85. It is the floor for showing up. Extra time is the next line, at $65 an hour, and only after that first hour is used.
How do I list several small tasks without several mystery prices?
Name them on the labor line. This visit hung two shelves, patched one drywall hole, and adjusted a sticking door. The client sees the list. The price is the time, not a made-up number per task.
Should I add a trip fee on top of the minimum?
Not in this example. The minimum is the trip. Stacking a second fee for the same arrival is how a two-hour visit starts to look like a stunt. If you charge a trip instead of a minimum, delete the minimum and say that.
How do I show parts I bought on the way over?
As a materials line at what you paid, if you are not marking them up. Anchors, spackle, and screws are $23 here. A markup belongs in the open, on that line, not inside the hourly rate.
What due date fits a same-day visit?
When you leave. This invoice is issued and due on October 4. A return trip for a part you could not get today is a new line or a new invoice, not a second minimum unless you told them that was the policy.
